about the designer...
Molly Keane is a fashion designer whose work juxtaposes itself to create a discordant harmony. This amalgamation allows her to create collections that conceptualize depression, euphoria, injustice, and the idea of hope, to show how they are not separate entities, but are connected in how they affect one another.
What’s always guided her designs is the allure of absurdism. For a girl who took herself too seriously, it offered the excuse to be ridiculous; to be unserious, evoking childhood through it’s whimsy. Finding this humor in fashion, Molly came to the realization that fashion had the potential to facilitate meaningful discussions. It became apparent that she use it to help others; progressing sustainability, inclusivity, and accessibility.
With a BFA in Fashion Design and Special Occasion from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Molly is currently working on her newest collection, Bread and Circuses. The collection explores the underlying issues of society, such as Black Lives Matter, climate change, women’s rights, and trans rights, amongst other movements, masquerade by silhouettes of the circus.
